About the role
Anthropic is hiring a Data Center Substation, Protection & Automation Engineer on the Data Center Infrastructure team to own protection and automation architecture across the US portfolio.
Scope runs from the utility point of interconnection through HV/MV substations, MV distribution, and into LV switchgear, including sites with on-site generation and battery energy storage. You will own the protection philosophy and reference relay settings, run and review short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies, design substation automation and SCADA (IEC 61850 station/process bus, GOOSE, RTUs/gateways, local HMI, SOE, time sync), integrate relays and meters into EPMS, and lead protection coordination with utilities and ISOs/RTOs. Roughly 20-35% travel for FAT/relay testing and energization support.
Core focus is protection engineering and substation automation (SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Siemens, Schneider platforms). Substation physical design is a plus, not required.
Location listed as remote-friendly, United States (Greenhouse location type On-Site); expect travel. Apply on Anthropic's Greenhouse board.
